The principle
Reflexology starts from the idea that certain areas of the sole correspond to other parts of the body. The therapist applies precise pressure with thumb and fingers, following a map of these areas, to bring stress down and restore a feeling of balance.
Whether or not you subscribe to the idea, the immediate effect is very real: feet that have walked all day relax, ankles loosen and tiredness subsides. It is a wellness treatment and does not replace medical advice.
The easiest treatment to set up
No massage table and little space are needed: an armchair or the edge of the bed is enough, and you stay dressed, just barefoot with your trousers rolled up. That is handy in a small riad room or when you are sharing the room.
It is also the ideal treatment for anyone who does not like the idea of a full massage, or as a first try before booking something else.
Good combinations
Thirty minutes of reflexology go well with a foot treatment or a pedicure: the feet are relaxed before being cared for. It also pairs with a light-legs massage to cover the whole lower body.
For couples or friends, two reflexology sessions can take place side by side in the same room, each in an armchair.

Frequently asked questions
Does it tickle?
Very rarely: the pressure is firm and precise, not feathery. If your feet are very sensitive, say so and the pressure is adjusted.
Does reflexology cure illnesses?
No. We offer it as a relaxation treatment. For a health problem, see a doctor.
Should I wash my feet first?
A shower is enough, or simply clean, dry feet. There is no need to apply cream before the session.
Is it possible during pregnancy?
As a precaution, we offer pregnant women the prenatal massage instead. Ask your midwife if you would particularly like reflexology.
