Pregnancy massage in Marrakech

The prenatal massage is offered from the fourth month of pregnancy. Gentle, with pure argan oil and no essential oils, it relieves a back and legs that carry more during a stay in Marrakech. Forty-five minutes, lying on your side with cushions, in your own room rather than in a spa.

Why from the fourth month

The first trimester is when most practitioners prefer not to massage, as a precaution. From the second trimester, a gentle massage is generally well tolerated and often very welcome, as the back, hips and legs start working harder.

Give the number of weeks when booking. If your pregnancy is being closely monitored, or you have any doubt, ask your doctor or midwife first: we would rather move an appointment than give a session that worries you.

How the session goes

You do not lie on your front. The massage is done on your side, supported by cushions between the knees and under the bump, then possibly half sitting up. The therapist works on the lower back, hips, legs, shoulders and neck with gentle pressure.

The oil is pure argan, with no added fragrance or essential oil, because some essential oils are not advised during pregnancy. It also nourishes the skin of the bump, which can feel tight in the dry heat.

Comfort comes first

During a stay in Marrakech, heat and walking tire you faster when you are pregnant. We suggest booking the massage in the late afternoon or evening, in a cool room, with a bottle of water within reach.

You can ask for a pause at any time, to drink, change position or go to the bathroom. A female therapist can be requested when booking.

Frequently asked questions

Can the bump be massaged?

Only very lightly, to apply the oil, and only if you want. The main work is on the back, legs and shoulders.

What about the ninth month?

It is possible if your pregnancy is progressing normally, with a shorter session if needed and more pauses. Ask your midwife if you are close to your due date.

Is a hammam advisable during pregnancy?

The heat and steam of a hammam are generally not advised during pregnancy. The prenatal massage, a facial or a manicure are better choices.

Can my partner have a massage at the same time?

Yes, book two treatments at the same time and two therapists come together. Allow a little room for two tables.
